Julio Roqué Julio Roqué was the son of a wealthy family from Aguadilla, Puerto Rico. He had a thriving dental practice in Harlem in the 1920's. On the side he was a patron of the arts as well as an accomplished musician and composer. His office was more of a talent agency, where musicians came to get not only dental work done but also to network for work. In 1924, Roqué began broadcasting one of the earliest, if not the first Spanish-language radio show called "Roqué's Review". On the show he featured local and visiting artists as well as his own orchestra. In addition to being a host he was also a pianist, violinist, composer, arranger, lyricist, and orchestra director; in recordings, radio performances, and in the theater. Little is known about this wonderful personality but hopefully in time his contributions to music will be documented.
